Top 7 Best K-Dramas of ALL TIME!
THE TOP SEVEN BEST K-DRAMAS OF K-DRAMA HISTORY!
You know the deal. The perfectly predictable plot, the rich boy/poor girl, the over dramatic triple take of the couple's first kiss, the dummy protagonist who doesn't know a thing, the tragic back story of the main character. THIS IS K-DRAMA. And here's my list of the TOP 7 best dramas of ALL TIME (because everything after these seven just equal up to each other).
NOTE: I have seen every single damn episode of these dramas, and that is why they are qualified to make this list. Please note that there are many other great dramas I've encountered, but have not yet finished. So for now, these are my TOP 7!
7. THE GIRL WHO SEES SMELLS
Haven't seen this one? Dude. Hit CONTROL+T and go to viki.com
to start this one as soon as possible! This drama was damn great!
It had an interesting and new concept with the characters,
which can't be said too often nowadays with all of the rich guy/poor girl
dramas--which this one isn't! HOORAY. The main female character has
a strange and quirky condition where she can actually see smells, and the
male lead has no ability to feel pain. Long story short, they make for an
interesting pair, coming together to solve the haunting and tragic
mystery of the male lead's sister's death. Trust me guys,
you will love this one. And you may cry. Just saying. PLUS: Yoochun! He'll
6. SECRET GARDEN
WAIT! Don't kill me. I know what you're thinking, "This is a classic!
why is it only number six?!" but I honestly think it's place
in this list is accurate. Not only is it a staple in the kdrama world,
it was reenacted by Big Bang! That TOP/GD kiss tho....
Anyways, there's not much I can say about this drama
except it was funny, heart-breaking, and a perfect example of the
struggles of being a chaebol in love with a poor girl. AND let's
not forget Hyun Bin's "That Man", okay? Never.
5. KILL ME HEAL ME
Is it fate that 화청 (the song you'll here over and over)
came on as I began typing up this list? Sigh.
WHERE DO I BEGIN. I really wish I could make this #1 but alas, it
is #5 for now. This drama... dare I say it... GOT ME FUCKED UP.
DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE
FLOWERY, HAPPY LOOKING POSTER. THIS IS NOT A FLOWERY
OR HAPPY DRAMA BY ANY MEANS. THIS DRAMA
IS THE EMBODIMENT OF DRAMA.
Almost every episode of this broke my heart, and I found myself
crying more than I'd like to admit. This story—no—this masterpiece is
riveting, soul-destroying, and fucking hilarious. You will be taken on an
emotional roller coaster by motherfucking Ji Sung and his perfect versatile
acting abilities (his character has multiple personality disorder). There are
scenes you would never imagine and things you never knew could break
your heart (like, incest? Gotta watch to find out!) Guys, I shit you not,
I would probably sell my left kidney to watch this drama for the first
time all over again. Seriously. This one's a game changer.
AND LET'S ALL TAKE A MOMENT TO REMEMBER AHN YO NA
FOR THE PERFECTION THAT SHE IS OKAY.
*Update: Ji Sung and Park Seo Jun have officially won an award
for best couple because of Ahn Yo Na, okay. Are you convinced now?
4. CITY HUNTER
Lee Min Ho. Yep, that's pretty much all you need.
But seriously, this drama was so refreshing since it wasn't your
run-of-the-mill two people fall in love. It was barely even about that!
In Netflix this one is marked action and thriller, and truthfully I almost didn't
watch it because of that but boy I am so glad I did. There is actually
a great plot here and there's a real story line that they never let you
forget for a second. I found myself sitting in class just waiting
for the end of school bell to ring so I could bolt home and keep watching
this. I would say this is an underrated hidden gem in the kdrama world,
and more people need to know about this. And let us never forget
that last episode. Cries.
3. ROOFTOP PRINCE
Hello again, Mr. Yoochun! Yep, this guy has made this list TWICE
because of his great choice in drama. But seriously, can we just enjoy
the fact that the main female character isn't even in the main poster?
Eh, she just got in the way anyway.
For real though guys, I'm not exaggerating when I put this
one at number 3! This drama is so ORIGINAL. Basically, these four
clueless idiots in the picture above are from the old timey era in Korea.
They magically end up in present day times, and they have to adopt to
our technological ways and figure out how to get back to their own time!
This one is definitely more funny and touching, but that isn't to say it
won't smash your heart into millions of pieces when the truth is
revealed. I honestly just adore and appreciate this drama so much it will
always have a place in my heart. This is definitely another underrated
hidden gem in the kdrama world. Also, the plot twists are real. And
I would like to formally thank the universe for introducing me to
Choi Woo Sik, ok. Come to mama.
2. BOYS OVER FLOWERS
You didn't think I'd forget the flower child of kdrama did you? Nah. I knew
as soon as I started this list that this one would either be number 1 or number 2.
If you're new to kdrama, this is one you'll hear the most about (next
to Secret Garden, of course). If you're a kdrama vet like me, you've seen
this long ago. This is my Drama Mama, right here. Any emotion you can think of,
you'll feel with this one. And even though it is clearly made back in the day when
smartphones were a luxury, it is still 100% perfect in every way. From the
dynamic story line to the ever-changing Goo Jun Pyo (yep, Lee Min Ho
slaying this list twice) and Jan Di couple, this one's really got it all and I truly
can't explain, in words, how it made me feel over the 2-3 days I shamelessly
binge-watched it. Even when I'm old and crusty, I will 10 out of 10 totally
recommend this one.
And finally, the almighty #1:
IT'S OKAY, THAT'S LOVE
I have to say something: I'm very biased with this one. I got into
this drama when I was first getting into hallyu and exo. I initially watched
it for D.O's acting debut, and it ended up being my first ever kdrama.
I was so culture shocked and amazed by everything that I can still
remember clearly the image of me sitting in my room one summer night
with my friend who was visiting from New York and we sat down
and watched the first episode together. Actually, as I just googled
the poster images for this show, I played one of the soundtrack songs
and I got hit with so much nostalgia. So yeah, maybe I'm biased, but
this drama is still fucking beautiful. They actually addressed the
issue of mental illness and psychiatry, which is still pretty taboo
in Korea. I just appreciated this so much and as an anxiety-stricken little
teenager, this really hit home for me. I found myself identifying with
Kwangsoo's character and this later lead me to start watching Running Man,
which, has changed me. That may sound silly but it's true. Basically what I'm
saying is this show opened the doors to everything I love and care about right now.
I'm so grateful for this show and all of the staff members who worked so
hard to make it great and dynamic and volatile and riveting and blood-curdling and
painfully hilarious. This drama right here will always be #1 to me for so many reasons
and I will always defend it to the end of time. Even now when people mention dramas,
I tell them to watch this one. And I will never stop. Seriously. This is #1.
when i talk about how much i love kdramas
